Come for a scenic 1 hour train ride on this world-class mountain railway. Our innovatively designed trains take you through kauri plantings and impressive engineering features up to the splendid new terminus, the Eyefull Tower. Colossal views out over Hauraki Gulf and Islands. Train tickets are available at our craft shop where we stock our own pottery and souvenirs. We also have an ecology and local history information bookshop, including nature books for children.

Is one of the region’s most fascinating places. For two hours either side of low tide, you can dig in the sand for hot spring water and make your own spa pool. It's good fun summer and winter. Spades for digging your pool are available for hire. The Miranda Coast is the most important wintering ground for Wrybill Plover Anarhynchus frontalis. This endemic is unique among birds in having a bill curved to the side. The estimated total species population is only 5300, up to 40% of which flock to Miranda at the end of the breeding season.he Miranda Shorebird Centre is located on the Firth of Thames, one hour south east of Auckland and half an hour west of the Coromandel Peninsula.
